How to Avoid the Fall

You’ve heard of the dreaded freshman 15. Those stubborn 15 pounds (or more!) that seem to attach itself to you during the school year. But it isn’t just those of you at school who are gaining that horrible weight The weather is cooling, work is getting busier and the opportunity to wear fall clothes is a little more forgiving when it comes to the added weight. We’re here to tell you how to avoid the fall 15, for those of you who are working, going to school or just taking a break until your next vacay.

  1. Avoid Stress Eating – We’ve been there, and we get it. From deadlines to tests to conferences, work and school can be stressful. But instead of reaching for that extra potato chip, there are a lot of other ways to combat that stress. Try exercising at the gym or taking a walk around the block. This will help negate calories while burning off all of that adrenaline. If exercise isn’t an option, try to relax with a bubble bath, yoga or meditation.

  2. Don’t Skip Meals – It’s absolutely vital to eat 3 meals or else your body will transition into starvation mode and keep you from losing weight. While classes and meetings can jam pack your schedule, pack in advance! Use the Sunday before your work week to create healthy dishes and frozen options and make sure to set a schedule (Bikini Cleanse helps you stay accountable and on track). This will help regulate your body and metabolism.

  3. Beware of Snacking – Mindless snacking is your worst enemy. But don’t forget! Sometimes your body mistakes hydration for hunger! Drink an 8 ounce glass of water first. If you absolutely must do it, choose healthier alternatives like celery and hummus or bell pepper slices. Veggies are your besties.

  4. Get Your Macros In – New to macros? Macros stands for macronutrients. Simply make sure you get enough protein, healthy fats and carbs, daily. Proteins are pretty obvious (beef, fish, poultry, or eggs) and fats include avocados, nuts and cooking oils. When we say carbs, we don’t mean cake or cookies. Fruits, vegetables, quinoa and rice fit into the carbohydrate section. During the Bikini Cleanse, necessary carbs include a lot of veggies like tomatoes, eggplant and zucchini while healthy fats include avocados or oils.
